Bebop, Akira and Ghost in the shell. I'm getting scared

Wow everything i hear about these remakes makes it sound worse and worse. First of all I hear that theres an Akira movie coming out. Akira many people will know my feelings on. I think its a great anime but not one of my favourites. I also think that it it a story made to be made in animated form whether its anime, manga or even a child drawing it in a colouring book. The films being made, live action and its Leonardo DiCaprio's production company are doing it.

Then I hear a movie of Cowboy Bebop is coming out, then i hear that Keanu Reeves is to play Spike. Enough said. Now i'm not saying Keanu Reeves isnt an entertaining actor at times, but i just feel he is not able to play Spikes personality(as i havnt seen a great amount of range in the characters he portrays thus far).

Finally and perhaps the worst news:
"Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite stories," Spielberg said. "It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."

Ghost in the shell is to be made into a "live action 3-D" film. What the hell does that mean? CGI? Live action? Didnt the original look good enough? Not to mention stand alone complex.

I for one would be happier if these were left as they were.

EDIT: is live action 3-D like the new version of a nightmare before christmas and my bloody valentine? Good god no...

I think the Lord High Jew of Hollywood means that it'll be done in a style similar to Beowulf

But yes, Hollywood has ruined Anime and the Japs rightly should nuke the US back for this

I'm curious to see how the Americans approach these properties personally. And if they fail miserably, at least we still have the originals to return to.

I personally am intrigued by a live action remake of Akira, the original was laden with stylish visuals that would look even more incredible if they looked that little bit more tangible.
